Oil on Board

Unframed

How quickly nature reclaims what we abandon. In 2000 the old Acme Marls factory in Burslem was shut down. Since then the site remains undeveloped and nature has taken over, turning the place into some strange country park that you can’t enter because it’s all fenced off. This small painting is an attempt to capture this rather weird place. The three bottle kilns in the distance, almost hidden by the undergrowth, are all that remains because they are listed. I’m guessing whoever owns the land is waiting for them to fall down to make the land more saleable.
