Chatterley Whitfield SOLD

Today I think I finally appreciated what plein air painting is all about. In the peaceful, spring tranquility of the country park, built on the old coal tip overlooking the disused Chatterley Whitfield Colliery, I experienced a connection with the subject of my painting in a way that I never have painting from photographs. Yes, it doesn't have the detail that it would have if I was working from a photo, but it has something else. Maybe only I can feel it, who knows. Anyway here it is.

I took the opportunity to make a short video while I was painting this scene, which you can view on my Youtube channel here https://youtu.be/PS_pX2Vj9cg
